Codex Alimentarius

Codex Alimentarius (Food Code) is the single, most important global reference point for consumers, food producers and processors, national food control agencies and the international food trade. The Codex Alimentarius creates standards, codes of practice and other recommendations that protect consumers, ensure fair practices in the sale of food and facilitate trade. The Codex Alimentarius is a global process shepherded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) that involves national food control administrators, technical specialists in food-related scientific disciplines, consumer organizations, production and processing industries, and traders.

First published in 1963 and regularly updated, Codex Alimentarius announces a completely revised edition in a new user-friendly format including texts adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission up to 2008. Nine volumes currently available with more on the way. English, French and Spanish editions available.
