Outdoor and indoor microflora

In addition to gases, dust particles and water vapour, air also contains mi cr oor gani sms. Ther e ar e veget at i ve cel l s and spor es of bact er i a, fungi and al gae, vi r uses and pr otozoan cysts. Since air is often exposed to sunlight, it has a higher temper atur e and less moisture. So, if not protected from desiccation, most of these microbial forms will die. Air is mainly it transport or dispersal medium for microorganisms. They occur in relatively small numbers in air when compared with soil or water. The microflora of air can be studied under two headings outdoor and indoor microflora.
