“Hand hygiene initiative” to reduce the Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI)

The  “CleanYourHands” campaign  has shown that an effective hand hygiene initiative  can reduce some Health-care Associated Infections, according to a report in the BMJ.

MRSA bacteraemia rates fell from 1,88 to 0,91 cases for 10.000 bed-days and C. difficile  infections from 16,75 to 9,49.

The campaign also produced sustained increases  in the amount of alcohol handrub and soap bought by hospitals.
