The today food analytical test

Not so long ago we talked in terms of ppm, ppb, ppt.

Now we have technologies that can detect a molecule!

This means we can test for smaller amounts.

This leaves us with a dilemma because many countries have legislation that refers to “absence”.

When this legislation went on statute book out testing could for example only be tested for ppm but now we can test millions of times more sensitively.

So, has the time come to replace “absence” in the legislation with threshold levels and make it an offence when these are exceeded?

These threshold levels could be linked to the amount that causes, or could potentially cause, a problem.
